I welcome you to the Vigyan Bharti (Uttarakhand). Vigyan Bharti is working for last 25 years to popularize science and developing scientific temperament among the citizens across the nation. The mission and vision of Vigyan Bharti is to use the science and technology for the inclusive and sustainable development of communities by indigenous knowledge that is the concept of Swadeshi Science. We have eminent scientists, academicians, engineers, researchers, doctors, teachers and students as the members of this organization. I want to invite you to join hands with Vigyan Bharti (Uttarakhand) for the nation building and development of our state.

MESSAGE FROM SECRETARY


I feel proud to be the part of Vigyan Bharati (VIBHA), a world's largest organization working for science movement in society. This great vision was originated from Indian Institute of Sciences (IISc) Bangalore by Prof. K I Basu in 90's, when he was faculty in the department of metallurgy at IISc. He was inspired to implement his extraordinary vision by reading correspondence between Swami Vivekananda and JRD Tata, the founder of IISc. I am fortunate to hear all the stories of VIBHA's origin and struggles from Prof. Basu at IISc on his 90th birthday.

Inculcate scientific temperament in our society is our social and moral responsibility. It is our fundamental duty and included in the constitution as new part IV-A through 42nd constitutional amendment in 1976. Great quote regarding scientific temper is

ABOUT US

India faces critical challenges as a nation in its march towards a welfare state. Considering the nature of the challenges which are so unique, only rapid strides in the sector of science and technology, in resonance with India’s heritage can meet those challenges. In this context Vijnanabharati, a science movement with swadeshi spirit has a greater role to play.

Swadeshi Science Movement was started in Indian Institite of Science- (Bengaluru) by a few eminent scientists under the guidance of Prof. K I Vasu. This movement gradually gained momentum and emerged as an organization with national presence. In 1991(Oct 20-21) at the Nagpur meet, it was decided, to launch the Swadeshi Science Movement at all India Level and named it as Vijnanabharati. The foundation principle of VIBHA is made

VIBHA Uttarakhand

India has been a pioneer in Science & Technology since ancient times. This belief needs to be re-established as a scientific concept among the future science scholars of Rural Uttarakhand.


  1. Uttarakhand, being Dev Bhoomi has played a vital role in India’s scientific development since ages. Divine Life giving herbs like Sanjeevani & Brahma Kamal need to be re-versioned for Global production & usage.
  2. Being a far geographic region, the Students of Uttarakhand must get an opportunity of interaction and orientation with the Global scientific community.
  3. Save Himalayas, Nature, Ecology and Environmental Heritage of Uttrakhand with the advanced scientific temper of budding Indian Scientists/ Scholars, by creating sensitization for sustainable development under SDG.
  4. Deploying latest Scientific Developments & Technology for promoting Industrial/ Service Sector Development and employment generation to mitigate migration issue.

AIMS & OBJECTIVES

  • To champion the cause of Bharatiya Heritage with a harmonious synthesis of physical and spiritual sciences which nourish each other and flourish together.
  • To rejuvenate the Swadeshi Movement in this age of science and technology for the purpose of national reconstruction.
  • To spearhead the Movement for Swadeshi Sciences and technologies such as Ayurveda, Siddha, Meditation, Organic Agriculture, Vastuvidya, Forestry, Astronomy, Environment, Engineering and the like.
  • To activate the Science Movement with a Swadeshi fervor in all the Bharatiya languages and at all levels, also through the mass media.
  • To spread the awareness of the unique contributions of ancient Bharat in the development of modern science.
  • To motivate young scientists towards greater creativity and originality.
  • To approach educational authorities for the inclusion of the information about the scientific heritage in all text books and curricular syllabus.
  • To establish provincial branch units of “Vijnana Bharati” and co-ordinate their activities.
  • To work towards the development of a common script and scientific terminology for all Bharatiya languages.
  • To utilize the R&D personnel and Institutions towards development of Indigenous technology and thereby to uphold the identity and dignity of Bharatiya Science in the comity of nations.
  • To interface with the Government and other agencies for the development of appropriate policies on education, economics, science, engineering, technology, industry and the like.
  • To encourage the development of appropriate technologies suitable for Bharat, consuming less energy and less capital,but maximum labour with due eco-balance, for meeting the rural needs in a decentralized method to the fullest extent possible.
  • To confer honors and fellowships on persons of eminence and erudition.
  • To make Villages self-reliant by imparting traditional and rural technologies to the people.
  • To help in giving modern interpretation of various scientific achievements, ancient and modern, by various means.
  • To organize science fairs and competitions for educating the masses at large, particularly the younger generation.
  • To co-operate/associate with other organizations having similar objectives.
  • To publish books and journals, and organize seminars and workshops etc. on the developments in Science & Technology and on policies towards development.
  • To establish educational Institutions, training centers, and research establishments for the development and propagation of these programmes.
  • To conduct entrepreneurship development programmes on the theme industries with indigenous technology.
  • To do all such things and acts which are conducive to the promotions and achievements of the above objective.
